On Property Practices
Port Inn has actively recycled our cartons and bottles and cans for many years, saving many tons of waste from entering our local landfill.
Environmentally Friendly bath amenities:
Unveiling the enhanced new look of Green from NATÜRA with its environmental focus, the collection features tubes made with PCR (Post Consumer Recycled) material and EcoPure. EcoPure is an organic additive that accelerates the plastic decomposition process. All tubes and accessories in the program are recyclable. All products are printed with naturally derived, environmentally friendly inks made from soy beans.
The Evo dispenser is a fine complement to the new look with its bottles containing 57% less plastic per ml than the average 30-32 ml bottle. The EVO Dispensing System combines the environmentally responsible advantages of the Green from NATÜRA amenity program and the benefits of dispensers.
Implementing Green from NATÜRA can significantly reduce waste, minimize negative environmental impact, and promote a sustainable future. Guests enjoy a quality amenity program while hoteliers gain valuable recognition and increase positive guest-perception.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency commends RSA for demonstrating commitment to waste reduction by becoming a WasteWise Endorser.

Port Inn eliminated the last of our oil burning plant in 2012 in favor of cleaner, lower carbon, and more efficient natural gas. Not only is it a better solution for the environment, but it will save us money over time.
Port Inn has eliminated incandescent lighting wherever possible in favor of much more efficient compact florescent lighting wherever possible. We will likely convert to LED in the future.
Water Conservation and Waste Water Minimization
Low flow toiletsThe last of the guestroom higher water usage toilets have been replaced with newer, lower water usage models, saving thousands of gallons of water and thousands of gallons of waste water.
Commercial Laundry Equipment Port Inn replaced its commercial washers with new, lower water usage models, saving thousands of gallons of water, and thousands of gallons of waste water.
Project Planet Program With the help of our guests, we are saving many gallons of water by only washing sheets and towels that our guests would like us to wash. Here’s how it works: guests who are staying additional nights hang towels that they plan to reuse, and leave the Project Planet card on their bed if they want to reuse their sheets. Project Planet estimates that our guests help us save 81,000 gallons of water and wastewater, 54 gallons of detergent, 88 gallons of chlorine bleach, and 607 kWh of electricity every year!
